Wordless{ish} Wednesday: Farmer's Market

{We wandered over to the Beaverton Farmer's Market.... which is so huge and awesome! One of the main reasons we went was to check out the local beef and chicken farmers. Were trying to switch over to hormone/antibiotic free range raised animals... and local! As much as I love fuzzy sweet animals... I do love to eat them. And, I want them to be treated well and taken care... before I eat them. :) There were actually a couple of farmer's there selling their meats that will be offering a whole butchered cow in the near future. We're thinking of splitting a cow with a couple of friends... we have a nice large freezer.... now breastmilk free... to store it in. ;D It was holding my massive collection of pumped milk... not anymore. ;D Happy Wednesday!}

{And, if you all get a moment....
I'd LOVE a vote! :D}

Chicken what?

I sorta/kinda/wanna get some chickens. I live in the city. So, it would be a little weird. Our backyard is VERY small. But, I think it would be fun. I love animals... but, I know chickens poo a lot... but, so does our Chihuahua... soooo.... :) What's a little more poo? Wouldn't be this year... but, maybe I can prep for it. Build a coop... a better chicken fence... etc.... Maybe for next year?

And... I'd also have to convince Mike... I told him he didn't know what he was getting into when he married me... I LOVE animals. I want animals around me... even when they leave hair and poo all around me. :)

I would love the fresh eggs and I think it would be great for Ruari to grow up with it. My mom grew up on a farm. I did not... but, I still love the idea. I actually think Mike would enjoy it too. By the way: No... I wouldn't be able to butcher the chickens after they get too old to lay eggs. Nope. BCFF: Best Chicken Friends Forever.

I think I'll check out this book soon:

{on Amazon}

Time to convince Mike. :).... Check out these urban coups:

So... apparently Portland has a Tour de Coups! Touring local urban chicken coups. How fun would that be? Ha! I'd love it! Am I trying to distract myself from the whole Surrogacy thing? Maybe... no... I'm planning on going to an IVF meeting soon for reproductive services. I thought I'd start there. :)

To the zoo.

 Last week a couple of my friends and I decided to take advantage of the rain-free weather and head to the zoo. Ruari got a zoo pass from my girlfriends for Christmas.  It was such a beautiful day... a wee bit freezing... but, a lovely day. It's so nice to get out of the house... I'm realizing these days that I need to actually take the time to get out of the house and go somewhere at least a couple times a week. I feel so much better and am so my happier when I do.

Then, I read this post from my friend Kelsey... It seems we all need a little get out of the house time. I love and appreciate my friends so much. I'm very lucky and blessed to have them in my life. This includes you blogging friends!

Can't forget to get a photo of Ruari and I...

If you have a moment, I'd love a vote for my blog! Thanks
to everyone that votes everyday! I so appreciate it! SO much!

Tree hunting.

Our little family went tree and ornament hunting this weekend! Mike and I started a tradition 3 years ago. We always go to Sleighbells Farm (it's a sort of year round Christmas shop/tree farm) and choose an ornament that best represents our year. First year: A ring for our engagement... Second year: a just married ornament... Third year: a little photo frame with a picture of my pregnant belly. This year we chose a little bundled baby.

A little family photo. Ruari and Mike make the same smirks!

How much would it suck to have this view everyday? So horrible...

Sooooooo.... we don't actually BUY the trees at Sleighbells... Just the ornaments! The trees are a bit too spendy for us. We always head out to a store to buy our trees. This year we went to Fred Meyer.

Since we're on a budget this year... we were planning to go with the cheapest trees available. Apparently this would be an "Elf Tree". YEEEeeeeah. These trees are tiny! Most are shorter than Ruari!

So, my Mom thought these trees were a bit sad... she offered to help pay for a larger tree. :D We now have a little 4 foot tree on a table. We have to keep it away from the baby that eats EVERY SINGLE THING!!! In fact... one of her favorites are pine needles.

Can Ruari get a vote for our blog?

By the way.... I have the winners for the Holiday Card challenge! I'm working on the post. BUT before I can do that we have to fix a little tie...... There are 4 winners. First, second, third, AND fourth... But, the third and fourth place have tied. I'll be posting a VERY quick poll real soon for a little "vote off".
